Summer 2025 – A Circular Surprise in Basel (by AnnaMariaCornelia)
This summer, while hiking in the mountains, I passed by the Freitag shop in Basel. To my surprise, I discovered their CIRC-CASE, an iPhone case made from worn-out ski boots. What impressed me most was its story: the case is recyclable, again and again, and designed as part of a modular system. Every step in its production, from disassembly in Davos to granulate production in Rapperswil to final molding near Zurich, happens within 150 km. A clean, local circular loop in action.
Did I buy one? Not yet, my current phone case is still in good shape. And that’s also part of circularity; use what you have, as long as possible.
At Circle of Circularity, we love sharing stories.
Stories from our work, from our customers, even from our holidays, always with a link to circularity.
Some are inspiring and beautiful, others funny or unexpected. Sometimes they’re about challenges and failures, too. Because the path to circularity isn’t always easy, and you don’t have to walk it alone.
Do you have a story you’d like to share with us?

Summer 2025 - The Melting Silence (by AnnaMariaCornelia)
I love mountains. Why? Because of their raw, sometimes unbearable beauty. But also because they are among the places most affected by climate change.
I longed to see a glacier again. It has been 21 years since I walked on one in the Himalayas. Curiosity drew me to the Hinterflux Glacier in Zillertal, Austria – to see it, feel it, smell it, touch it.
I knew that some glaciers are wrapped in tarpaulins to slow down the melting process. But to see that here, in the Alps, with my own eyes… I was stunned, saddened, and speechless. The fabric cannot stop the melting; it only tries to slow it down.
We humans have managed to make mastodons and glaciers disappear. I am not proud of that.
As I stood there, I was lost for words—only a deep, silent awe and a wake-up call to our responsibility.
